Little Carpet Weavers
‘Little Carpet Weavers’ is illustrated for a book with the same name by Houshang Moradi Kermani. It depicts the lives of small children in the poor areas of Iran that have been sold by their parents to businessmen to weave traditional carpets by hand for the rest of their lives. Although the carpets are colorful and beautiful, the lives of these children are dark and miserable. The gauche technique is used to depict the colorful carpets and brown ink, representing the real woeful lives of the kids.
